| "Completely Free from
Tinnitus" |
It was definitely a real
shocker that after 12 years of tormenting noise in my ears I was
completely free from Tinnitus. My doctor was so embarrassed...Moreover,
I am now feeling energized and full of life. Other health conditions
that I suffered from had also vanished.

Of course, no
book is perfect — there are a few typos and I think the book could be a
bit shorter — but Coleman’s comprehensive guide is a truly helpful
resource.
One of the best
parts, I must say (and the reason I bought the book) is the personal
counseling and support that is included. You are guided through the
program until you reach your goal... getting rid of your tinnitus
naturally.
Overall, I have
to say that whether you've just been diagnosed with tinnitus, or have
been struggling with it for years, you will find this book unbeatable.

| Tinnitus
Treatment with Drugs — Which Medications Help? |
| |
|
The
word tinnitus can be traced back to an early Latin word that
means “ringing”; and that is essentially what tinnitus is — a
persistent ringing in the ears. |
|
| |
Contrary to popular belief, however, tinnitus
is not a disease, but rather a symptom that results from common
ailments like allergies, ear infections or even ear wax build-up. The
most common cause for tinnitus, however, occurs when the hearing is
damaged or impaired, often by loud noises.
If you are suffering from tinnitus, you will want to seek medical
attention as soon as possible. Though tinnitus is not a disease, as we
mentioned, it can be a symptom of a more serious disorder.
The following is a list of things that tinnitus sufferers can do right
now to minimize their symptoms:
- Decrease the amount of sodium
(salt) in diet
- Reduce exposure to loud noises
- Monitor blood pressure
- Get some exercise
- Avoid stimulants like caffeine,
nicotine
- Reduce stress
Tinnitus treatment for patients tends to be difficult because there is
no known cure. Rather, there are medications, steps and even activities
sufferers can do that will help them minimize ringing in the ears. It
is up to the doctors and their patients to experiment a bit and find
the right combinations.
Medications
Unlike some conditions, tinnitus cannot be completely controlled with
just a regimen of drugs. However, certain medications have been proven
to provide relief to some tinnitus sufferers.
The most popular medications for tinnitus treatment tend to be
antidepressants like amitriptyline and nortriptyline. But these drugs
are only used to treat severe tinnitus, since they may have serious
side effects, such constipation, blurred vision and even heart
problems. That means these drugs are often only prescribed to patients
who are in tiptop physical condition. And since most of the folks who
suffer from severe tinnitus are older, this is not a regularly
prescribed medication.
On the other hand, milder and more popular antidepressants like Niravam
and Xanax are often used to reduce tinnitus symptoms. These drugs have
only very minor side effects, such as nausea and drowsiness. But
doctors monitor these patients very closely because antidepressants can
become habit-forming.
Also, a drug called Campral that is used to treat alcoholism has a
proven track record with some tinnitus patients and its popularity is
growing.
Finally, believe it or not, tinnitus is a common symptom of several
fairly common drugs. So, if you’re experiencing any ringing in the
ears, tell your doctor — a medication you’re currently taking may be
the culprit.

| Natural
Tinnitus Treatment |
| |
| Many people out there
suffering with tinnitus are desperately seeking a tinnitus treatment
that will finally get rid of those irritating noises, such as
ringing, that are going on in their ears. The truth is, there
really is no cure for this condition, however, you can get tinnitus
relief naturally without having to take prescription medications. |
|
| |
|
First of all, you can minimize or even
prevent your tinnitus by doing some things on your own such as:
- Avoiding exposure to loud noise
- Decreasing your salt intake
- Avoiding total silence
- Staying away from caffeine,
nicotine and other stimulants
- Reducing fatigue
- Exercising
- Managing your stress
- Getting educated on tinnitus
Another form of tinnitus treatment is through Tinnitus Retraining
Therapy. This process works by combining two types of components -
counseling with education and sound generators. The counseling helps
with educating the patient about the causes and effects of this
condition and learning how to cope. The sound generators provide low
level noise which is soft enough so that the brain picks up on both the
noise and the tinnitus. Eventually, the brain is retrained into putting
less emphasis on the tinnitus or basically ignoring the problem
altogether.
Acoustic therapy can provide tinnitus relief. This is a sound produced
externally which covers up or inhibits the production of tinnitus. This
can be done through a sound generator producing white noise, an
instrument which combines a hearing aid and a sound generator, tabletop
or portable sound generators, music therapy and other sound makers such
as electric fans, television or radios.
Frequently a tinnitus sufferer will seek counseling for a natural
tinnitus treatment. This type of psychological intervention helps to
reduce stress, distress and often distracts the patient into not being
bothered by this condition.
Stress plays a big part in this condition, therefore, effective stress
management can provide serious tinnitus relief (as well as improve your
health in general). You can reduce your stress and anxiety levels
through relaxation techniques, self-hypnosis and guided imagery.
Also known to be an effective natural treatment for tinnitus is the use
of herbs and vitamins. Herbs such as gingko biloba, Chinese herbs,
black cohosh, spinach, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds and pumpkin seeds
are effective. Taking natural vitamins high in Vitamin A, C, the whole
B group complex, E and Zinc is also beneficial.
You should always discuss your options with your medical doctor before
trying any natural tinnitus treatment. Don't get discouraged, there is
tinnitus relief out there that is more natural than taking drugs and
medications. Stay positive and get educated on this condition. It's
with knowledge and understanding that one can achieve results.
